“…be part of the wilderness experience…”

Tasmania Australia

Cradle Mountain Wilderness VillageCradle Mountain Wilderness Village is in a secluded bush setting in Cradle Valley on the edge of the World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair National Park.

Opened in 2000, we strive to provide our guests a natural wilderness experience without compromising comfort. Our private, self-contained cottages have been carefully sited in the natural bushland so you are surrounded by native plants and wildlife. We offer a variety of cottages catering for the travelling couple up to larger family groups.

When you walk outside onto your balcony you may well come face to face with a wallaby, wombat, pademelon, possum or currawong - it's all part of the 'wilderness' experience.

The enchanting beauty of this rugged world heritage area will captivate you. Cradle Mountain

The Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair National Park is world-renowned as an example of temperate wilderness and was listed as a World Heritage Area in 1982. The majestic Cradle Mountain, with Dove Lake at its foot, is at the northern end of the World Heritage Area.

Parks and Wildlife

Get the free bus to the Parks and Wildlife Visitor Centre to learn about the area, then on to Dove Lake, sitting at the foot of Cradle Mountain. Soak up the view or take the boardwalk around the Lake, one of Tasmania’s greatest short walks. On the way back, why not walk the newly constructed boardwalk through Cradle Valley.
