Is the property able to assist with mobility access?

Our reception, lounge, and restaurant are accessible to people with disabilities. Our accommodation is wilderness based and most have stairs to access the chalets. There are limited chalets that have ground level access and we strongly recommend you enquire if we are able to meet your specific needs prior to booking any accommodation.

There is a self-serve petrol pump at the visitors centre. EV charging points are available at the Resort and you will need to book this facility prior to arrival to ensure unhindered access to the point. It charges all types of EV vehicles.

Certainly, we offer various dining options within our restaurant and Wilderness Lounge. We can also provide audio-visual services if required. For group dining, booking in advance is essential. We have group menus and special seating times for planning well in advance, parties above 12 are considered groups and must be pre-arranged through reception.

How do I access the National Park?

How do I access the National Park?

All visitors to the National Park must have a current Parks Pass before they can enter the Park. Visitors can then walk 750 m down from the Resort to the Visitor Centre and obtain a bus pass that will grant you on and off access all day within the Park. Limited opportunities exist to drive your own vehicle (displaying a National Parks Pass clearly) into the park before 7:00 am or after 6:30 pm and park at Ronny Creek. From there you walk to Dove Lake or onto any of the numerous short or long walk tracks. Exiting the park can be at any stage however you must follow the park buses to exit. Please note this is a reference and timings can vary – refer to the National Parks page for current details throughout the year.

No, all other attractions within the area operate independently to the Resort. We list several on our website in order to assist you with booking before your arrival as numbers are usually limited.

What is the check-in and payment process? What security for damage, loss or additional cleaning to CMWV property is taken?

Upon booking, we require your credit card details (MasterCard or VISA only) to confirm your reservation, and a secure de-identified copy is retained for the duration of your stay, it is removed from our secure files after you depart. Full payment for your accommodation will be charged to your card upon arrival. Please ensure that all contact and credit card details are correct and that there are sufficient funds to cover all charges. Once a guest has arrived, full charges apply for accommodation. If a guest chooses to leave the Resort early, full payment for the stay is required. A valid credit card and ID must be presented upon arrival and we will securely retain a de-identified copy on file for the duration of your stay which is then deleted upon departure. We provide you with a security agreement upon arrival, that you are required to complete, which authorises us to take a pre-approved figure of $500 without notice, for damage, cleaning, or replacement of items removed from your Chalet. We advise that you are liable for any damages caused (whether by deliberate, negligent, or reckless acts to your room (s)) to Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village's property or premises caused by you or any person in your party whether or not staying at the property during your stay. Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village retains the right to charge the credit/debit card/cash in such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deem necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by CMWV as a result of the aforesaid. Should any damage or act come to light after the guest has departed, you hereby authorise us to charge a payment for any damage incurred to your Chalet or CMWV property during your stay, including and without limitation to all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc. We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally before contracting a specialist to make repairs and therefore will make every effort to keep costs that the guest would incur to a minimum. We will endeavour to contact you regarding any damages and the process we have followed to rectify the damages and what any charges may relate to.

You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to reserve a chalet. In addition, all occupants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or accompanied by their parents. Proof of age via government-issued identification is required at check-in for occupants.

Before a guest’s check-in, all chalets are disinfected utilising hospital-grade cleaning products with special attention paid to high touch point areas. Our laundry facility utilises high-grade cleaning technologies along with disinfection for all sheets, blankets, and towels. During your visit with us, a stayover service is NOT provided. We believe your chalets are your sanctuary and this is a best practice to provide peace of mind for all of our guests. If you require additional room amenities, please contact reception during operating hours and we will be happy to assist.

If cancelled or modified within three days (72 hours) of your reservation check-in date and in the case of a ‘no-show’, 100% of the total booking fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified prior to three days before your reservation check-in date, no fee will apply.

Unfortunately, pets are NOT allowed anywhere on the Wilderness Resort grounds, including within the chalets. You may from time to time see the property 'Public Relations' dog Cairo being taken for some exercise. Please feel free to stop and pat her, she is very friendly.

Free Wi-Fi is available across the property, in our main reception, our Lounge, our Restaurant, and the surrounds of the reception area. Depending upon your mobile phone service provider you may struggle with telephone or data service throughout the Wilderness Village.

Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre is your go-to for all your park needs. You can purchase a National Parks Pass online at the link below. You will also need to obtain a bus pass from the Visitor Centre and there is a small fee associated with that.

We have a coffee service operating from 7:30 am until 9:30 pm. We have an evening dinner service operating from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Ask our friendly team about packed lunch options during the breakfast service! Lunch will be available from 1:00 pm until 4:30 pm in the Lounge during the summer months, with takeaway available all year long from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm. (There may be slight variations to this based upon staffing and supply)

Each Chalet has provision for ONE vehicle in front of the Chalet. If you are traveling with more than one vehicle, we have additional parking spaces available near our reception.

For major emergencies please call 000 for Police, Fire, and Ambulance. For our In-house guests, please contact the reception during office hours for any general needs within your Chalet. Should you have a genuine emergency throughout the evening, please call our Duty Manager. You can find the phone number on your fire evacuation plan in your room, or on the map provided upon check-in. Calling the property after 6:00 pm on 6492 1500 will provide you with an option to be redirected to our after-hours number.

Cradle Mountain's summit is 1545 m above sea level and the peak receives regular snowfalls in Winter. Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village is roughly 900 m above sea level and even at this lower altitude, the property generally sees snowfalls every month from late autumn until spring. No. You are purchasing accommodation stay in the wilderness. We offer an assortment of food services either here in our Restaurant or Wilderness Lounge or there are several other venues within 1 km offering dining options. We also offer a variety of fresh Tasmanian hampers to enjoy during your stay – breakfast, walking, or evening nibbles in your chalet of an evening. Bookings for dinner or sundry hampers are required as early as possible to ensure availability. Discounts apply to Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village Community members.

You can buy a very selected assortment of items from one of the service stores on the mountain. Although we recommend stocking up on all groceries and essentials for your wilderness experience before leaving your nearest major town.

What is a “shared bathroom”?

When we say that you have a “shared bathroom” we simply mean, that there is not an ensuite in each bedroom, but rather one bathroom for the entire chalet. Chalets range from one to two bedrooms, a bathroom, a lounge and a kitchenette.

The kitchenettes have a two-plate electric cooktop (the saftey switch is on the wall) with utensils to cook. We supply an electric frypan, microwave oven, bar fridge, toaster, kettle, crockery, and cutlery. Should you be missing any items then please contact reception, during office hours, for assistance.

Can I add another person to my Chalet?

When you are booking your chalet it is indicated the number of guests permitted to stay in each chalet under the Parks and Wildlife fire ordinance rules. If you have selected a chalet for two people (2) then you cannot add a third. If you have selected a villa for 6 people it is charged on a two (2) person basis, additional charges apply for additional adults or children. This is a charge of $35 per additional adult per night and $20 per child per night. We do not provide roll-away beds for any Chalet. We cannot make changes when you arrive, so ensure your booking is correct when placing it, or call us in advance if there are any changes to be made.

Checkout for all Chalets is 10:00 am Any incidental charges/balances due that are not settled before 10:00 am checkout time will be charged to the credit card on file. On your date of arrival, we will do our best to ensure your chalet will be ready by 2:30 pm. Guests may register at the reception earlier and make use of the Wilderness Lounge or enjoy one of the many short walks in the region. Interested in an ‘Early Check-In’? Click the link below for further information. It takes time to clean and prepare Chalets across the property, please do not be offended if it takes a little longer to have them all ready. You may have to wait up until 3:00 pm during busy times.
